Chat Basics

How chat works on Xotic AI — starting a conversation, the layout, sending messages, memory, and where every setting and control lives.

Chat is where you actually spend time with a companion — texting, roleplay, photos, and calls all happen here. This page is the lay of the land; the pages that follow drill into each control.

Starting a chat#

Open a chat a few ways:

  • From Explore — tap any character to start (or resume) a conversation with them.
  • From Chat — your conversation list; it opens your most recent chat, and every companion you've talked to is here.

Each companion has one ongoing conversation that you pick back up every time — she remembers what came before.

The chat layout#

A conversation has three parts:

  • The message list — the back-and-forth, newest at the bottom. Each of her messages has its own controls (react, rate, play aloud, regenerate) — see Message actions.
  • The composer — the bar at the bottom where you type. It also holds buttons for photos, videos, and AI-assisted replies — see The composer.
  • Her profile panel — open it from her name/avatar to see who she is, tweak the conversation, start a call, view memories, and reach all settings.

Sending messages#

Type in the composer and send. Talk to her naturally — the tone you set, the detail you give, and the scenes you describe all shape how she responds. How she replies (length, pacing, how explicit, which AI model) is fully adjustable — see Chat settings.

She remembers — Memories#

Your companion builds memories from your conversations and carries them forward, bringing things up naturally later. You can see exactly what she's holding on to: open her profile panel and tap Memories to view the list and the running count. Memory is what makes a long conversation feel continuous instead of starting over each time.
